The origin of Solomon Mangham is not totally clear. He seems to have been a later son of William Mangum Sr. of the Va. to N. C. migration in 1748. He was probably born in North Carolina and lived for a time in Orange Co., N. C. near his brother Arthur Mangum. In the beginning of the 19th century (1800's) he migrated to Georgia and he and his family spelled their surnames 'Mangham'.
