horizontal rule

Joseph Mangum of Granville County, N. C. was likely a son of William Mangum Sr. of the Va. to N. C. migration. He was born between 1747 and 1752, probably shortly after the migration. He was quite active in the political life of the county and owned about two square miles of land. In later years Joseph sold his land to his several sons including Josiah, Gray, Joseph Jr. and William. The land was all sold by 1809.
