John Mangum of Virginia

horizontal rule

There were several John Mangum's in the early history of the Mangum family. We believe John Mangum, who married Frances a member of the Bennett family, was the first Mangum immigrant to the New World to leave descendants. He is described more fully on the Colonial Origins page. John had son John Mangum (Jr.?) who married Olive Savidge . John and Olive had son John who moved to Mecklenburg Co., Virginia. He had son John who was a Revolutionary War Patriot. His descendants were the subject of a book by Mrs. Delta Ivy Mangum Hale. See the Publications page.

John Mangum was a common name in the Mangum family and almost all branches of the family had a child named John. .
