Henry Mangum was born about 1728, possibly to John Mangum Jr. He appears in the Mill Swamp Baptist Church records where he records his children born between 1746-1768. He made his will in 1790 in Isle of Wight County, Virginia. He named all his children except Hearty but not a wife who is presumed to be deceased at that time. He was dead by 1795.
Henry Mangum Jr. lived in Brunswick and Greenville Counties, Virginia. He and probably some of his brothers including Britton Mangum were Revolutionary War soldiers. Sometime 1800 the entire clan packed up and moved to Maury County, Tennessee.
