THE
MANGUM-MANGHAM MANGRUM
JOURNAL
The Mangum Family Bulletin began publication in 1969 as a "ditto" purple print quarterly. The bulletin was put on hold in 1992 (after 38 issues) while I published my two books. I re-started the Bulletin in January 2000 with the name "The Mangum-Mangham-Mangrum Journal". The first issue was given the number '39' for compatibility with the old "Mangum Family Bulletin", which ended with issue '38'. The Journal continued to print "Mangum" and related spelling genealogical information, the same as the old Bulletin. In addition, especially in the early issues, we printed new Britsh Isles (English, Scottish and Irish) information we had obtained from our research into the origin of our supposed immigrant ancestor John Mangum. Those non-U.S. records related to individuals whose surname spellings were identical or similar to our U.S. Mangum and Mangham surnames. We obtained extensive English records, which pointed to specific 'old word' families and places for their origins. This work was pursued enthusiastically by Mr. Timothy Mangham of Oroville, California in cooperation with several English researchers, including the late Mr. Colin Mangham and his wife Dorothy of Bury, England. The Journal in late 2003 began printing the results of our DNA research efforts, including DNA tests from various English & Irish participants.
The number of pages included in the Journal ranged from 24 to 66 pages. As in the old Mangum Family Bulletin, there was an "Editor's Page", plus an assortment of wills, deeds, census records, marriage records, articles and other useful genealogical information. Some of the English records includes wills dating back to the 14th century.
The Journal was primarily an electronic journal. Subscribers were able to download their issues from my website, using a link I sent out when each Journal was ready. There was no cost to subscribers for the download.
Unfortunately, new issues of the Journal are not presently being produced. The last issue was number 65, January 2015. However, back issues of the Journal (39-65) in Adobe PDF format can be easily obtained by sending an e-mail to the address at the bottom of this page. You can request individual issues, but I suggest you request the Mangum-Parham DVD, which has all the Journals (39-65), all the older Bulletins (1-38), Indexes, Tables of Contents, Mangum and Mangum related spelling census reports (1790-1880), and other items. The entire DVD contents can be downloaded (as a zipped file or self-extracting file) from a webpage link I will send you. The webpage allows transfer of large files. The DVD is also available by standard mail, but there is a fee to cover cost of media, labeling and mailing costs. SEE BELOW!
All Journal and Bulletin issues are now available on the
MANGUM FAMILY BULLETIN DVD!
